Non-Traditional Garden Arbor Shapes
Many
people who add a garden arbor to their
landscaping often put in the traditional arched
garden arbor.
They paint it white or stain it with a
natural finish and then plant ivy around it.
While this looks absolutely breathtaking, you
don’t have to stick to the norm when it comes to
your garden arbor. Many people are spreading
their wings and trying something new by putting
up a non-traditional shaped garden arbor and the
results are absolutely amazing.
Try matching the shape of your garden arbor to
the theme of your landscaping or backyard. For
example, if you live on a farm, you may have
this country farm theme in your backyard without
even realizing it. Why not add a garden arbor in
the shape of a barn? Instead of having the
traditional arch on the top of the arbor, shape
it to look like your barn. Painted barn red and
white, the garden arbor will certainly add to
the atmosphere of your backyard.
Others have taken things a step further and
shaped them for another theme they have chosen.
If you have made your backyard into your
tropical paradise, you could have several
choices when it comes to your garden arbor.
Shaping the arbor to look like palm trees and
adding foliage at the top will help you to
highlight your tropical paradise or if you have
more of an ocean theme, a garden arbor shaped
like a water dweller, such as fish or dolphin,
will certainly bring some character to the
backyard.
Another example would be to do your garden arbor
in the shape of something entirely different.
Instead of an arch, you could do a cut-out of
flowers, designs, or even an animal. When you
build your garden arbor, the thing to remember
is that it is yours and you can shape it any way
you desire.
If you do prefer the traditional shape of the
garden arbor, you can still vary the look of it
by your choice of materials, as well as the
colors you choose. If you have a rustic,
country-style backyard, liven things up by
building your garden arbor out of branches and
limbs from the trees in your backyard. If you
have access to driftwood from the beach or lake,
it makes a great material in which to build a
garden arbor and the end result will look like a
work of art.
